Privacy policy

Sophie Chestnut Ltd (company number 15588183, 26 - 28 Southernhay East, Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom, EX1 1NS), trading as Unwrap a Song, is the data controller for personal data collected through unwrapasong.com. We follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

• Order details: your name, email, optional phone number, the recipient's name and optional email, delivery date, and the story you write for the song.
• Photos: the photos you upload of each person in the video, and their names or nicknames.
• Payment: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe keeps a reference to your card so we can charge it if you accept a one click offer straight after checkout.
• Messages: anything you send us by email, the contact form or the help chat (chat messages are logged to help us answer and improve).
• Site data: basic technical data, a first party cookie that remembers which advert or link brought you to us, and, if enabled, Meta and TikTok pixels that measure our adverts. When you check out we also share order events with Meta through its Conversions API (your email, phone, name and postcode are hashed first, plus your IP address and browser type) so Meta can measure and improve our adverts. You can turn off ad personalisation in your Meta settings.

Why we use it

• To make and deliver your Singer (contract).
• To take payment and prevent fraud (contract, legitimate interests).
• To answer your questions (legitimate interests).
• To send songs, offers and birthday reminders, only if you opt in (consent). Unsubscribe any time.

Emails from us

Order emails (confirmation, delivery, receipts) are part of your order. Songs, offers and birthday reminders are only sent if you tick the box at checkout. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click takes you off the list. You can also email hello@unwrapasong.com and we will remove you.

Text messages (SMS)

We only text you if you give us your phone number and tick the text box at checkout. We text order updates (for example when your Singer is ready) and, if you agreed, occasional offers and reminders. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of buying. We never sell, rent or share your phone number or text consent with anyone for their own marketing.

Your photos

Photos are used only to make your video. They are stored privately with our hosting provider and deleted 90 days after delivery. We never use your photos or video in marketing without your clear permission.

Who we share it with

Only the providers we need to run the service: Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and file storage), Neon (database), Resend (email), OpenAI (the help chat and production tools), and the creative software providers we use to produce songs and animation. Some are based outside the UK; where that happens we rely on approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Order records: 6 years for tax and accounting. Photos: 90 days after delivery. Your finished video: kept so you can re watch it, unless you ask us to delete it. Chat logs: 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or move your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Email hello@unwrapasong.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
